Why?? September 10, 2010 V. Saunders First off, let me mention right away that this game is very very unafraid to spawn 6 police cars literally right on top of you. I was being careful and avoiding the cops on my mini map... Little did I know that if this game wants you to be in a police chase, you're damn well going to be in a police chase.
The game is also packed wall to wall with unskippable, very cheesily acted live action cut scenes. If you've played this game, you're probably thinking "well they're no longer than 20 seconds" but there's soooo many of them! It's a racing game, not quite something people play for the story. These scenes remind me of that Fox show Fastlane, if anybody remembers that, only not at all entertaining or funny.
The 'Highway Battle' AI is the most upsetting thing I've ever seen. The civilian cars will do such things as pushing you into buses, randomly braking in front of you for no reason at all, and closing your lane right before you try to pass. I must say, regular taxis and vans are much better at killing you than police cars. The vans are definitely out to get you...
This game was so disappointing !!! EA, Shame on You ! September 6, 2010 Georgia A. Adams (Portland Oregon) This is the first review I have written for a video Game. I really wanted to like this game, but it was a total disappointment ! I have alot of experience
playing video games, my favs are all the Sims games. I like car racing games so
I thought that this would be fun. I bought it as a download from the EA store.I have downloaded many a Sims game to my computer without a problem. This game was a total nightmare. The technical Issues are so numerous, the game is choppy and freezes all the time. There is no main menu at the beginning of the game, as in most videos. No tutorials to show you how to play the game. The graphics could be better, like the Sims. In this downloaded version all you do is race, smash things, and police chases. This was fun, but there was no plot to the story ! The color could be alot better. Also it would be more fun if they had put the game in sections ie. Beginner,Intermediate, and Advanced. I felt that EA let people down, and put out a very inferior product. They need to work on a much better version. IMHO they need to make it more structured and user friendly like the Sims. I would think that a company would always want to put out a excellent product. Now I wonder if something was wrong with the download.
I have other games on my computer that I have downloaded, and they work fine
like the Bejewled Blitz, now that's a really good game. I will be calling EA
customer service and complaining loudly. I wouldn't recommend buying this game.
Doesn't EA play these games extensively, or have game testers play ? It's like they threw this game together, not very professional.
Average September 5, 2010 Joe D. Green (Washington DC) I have only played through the first 10 or so races, so view my response as such.
Firstly, the wait times in this game kill me. I spend more time loading than I spend driving. At least it feels that way. Same thing within the maps too and my HD 4870 is supposed to be reasonably high end.
Two days before I installed Undercover I was playing through Underground 2. Honestly, I miss it. There were no loading times, just like there weren't in Most Wanted or ProStreet.
The levelling system annoys me. You get 1% here, 1% there, and you don't even get to pick where it goes.
I would have also liked some more appealing choices for my first new car. I went with the Lotus because it appeared to have the best stats. I would have taken dozens of other "entry level" cars over it. Civic, " SI, RSX, Tiburon, etc. I guess I was hoping for more imports and less Fords/Chevys.
I will probably play through the whole game (unlike ProStreet and Flatout).
I rate it average at best.
NFS: Undercover rreviewed August 27, 2010 TrafficChess I have enjoyed the Need For Speed games for many years and this game has lived up to the Need For Speed name. The game play is fast paced and the added driving skills make the game play new. The game as a whole is done well and is worth the price for the amount of game play that can be had. The save feature makes this a pick up and play in short spurt's or a hard core long term play, which ever you are in the mood for. I would recomend this game for anyone that is a fan of the Need For Speed games and wants to play in a new city with the free roam style.
Cool Game for the price. August 19, 2010 Ben Einolf (MD, U.S.) I love this need for speed. It has some fun modes. I really love the cars. It's easy to earn them and race a ton of real road tracks. You can earn money very easily from the career modes. And id love to play cops and robbers with more friends. I'd definitely recommend the game to a friend.
